The Ron Smolen Orchestra has been serving the Chicagoland area for over 30 years. For the last 15 years, our 10 piece orchestra has branched out and has performed in 16 states and events ranging from elegant Dinner Dances, Lavish Weddings, and Big Band Festivals, to State Fairs, Carnivals, and Gambling Casinos.
The Ron Smolen Orchestra is one
of the last traveling Big Bands under the direction of a "Live" Personable leader.
Some of the places they have performed at include:
Ballrooms...
The Ron Smolen Orchestra has also been featured on several "LIVE" remote Radio broadcasts. These remotes combined with the playing of The Orchestra's recorded music by regional radio station DJ's, has allowed the music of The Ron Smolen Orchestra to be heard from Coast to Coast and in Canada.
The Ron Smolen Orchestra is also recognized in the publications
The Orchestra's library is designed to play for Ballroom Dancing one night, and for a Jazz Club Concert the next night. We can transform any event into New Years' Eve at the Waldorf in the memorable sweet sound of Guy Lombardo, and also provide plenty of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and Glenn Miller for those who prefer to " Swing " a little. And, since we perform for all ages, we carry an ample amount of "POP" tunes ranging from the 50's and "Rock Around The Clock" to the 90's and "Achy Breaky Heart".
The resurgence of SWING DANCING finds The Ron Smolen Orchestra performing in many new clubs. Although they are still playing the same music as they have for the past 30 years, this music once considered old is now hip and exciting and being introduced and accepted by an entirely new and younger audience.
Our ten(10) piece orchestra consists of... 4 saxophones, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone,
bass, drum, and piano. Vocals are provided by Ron and Fred Garcia. For our local
accounts, we also offer Combos, Dixieland Bands, and our 17 piece Big Band.
These bands are available to our "out of town" clients only as part of a multiple
date performance package.
The Ron Smolen Orchestra is available
for an evening of Dancing, Show and Dance, or an excellent two-(2) hour concert.
